We know that developing fluent reading frees children’s cognitive resources to focus on comprehension and a deeper understanding of texts. As children leave KS1 and we start to introduce longer and more complex literature in reading sessions, what strategies can we use to continue to develop children’s reading fluency? This session will look at how we are using the EEF’s Reader’s Theatre approaches to engage our learners as we teach fluency skills in whole-class reading lessons.
