According to the NHS, one in six UK children aged five to 16 were identified as having a probable mental health problem in July 2021 compared with one in nine in 2017 (NHS, 2021). There is an observable trend post-pandemic of students with anxiety among other mental health issues. Anxiety can affect their ability to focus on their learning in a classroom setting and stifle their progress both academically and personally. It has been suggested that wellbeing and resilience is enhanced in anxious students when teachers nurture specific character strengths. This session will explore some usable strategies based in positive psychology to help students develop their resilience and positive mindset.
